Having been a member of the Roman Catholic institution, I can vouch for the veracity of the claims Chiniquy makes regarding the dogma and practices though he himself was unaware of the full extent of the error permeating its most unbiblical teachings. If you study the actual writings of the Founding Fathers of the USA you will find their authors in agreement with Chiniquy's disdain and mistrust. Likewise if you read the UNABRIDGED sermons of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (The Prince of Preachers) you will discover multitudinous denunciations of Roman Catholicism. Finally, among the Protestant reformers there is an almost universal identification of the pope with the little blasphemous horn spoken of by the prophet Daniel and the RC institution as the "Whore of Babylon" in John's book of Revelation.
