About the author (1982)

Petersen is a nationally known, award-winning parenting newspaper and radio columnist, child and family advocate, and national spokesperson for Hasbro's Family Game Night. In over 40 years of teaching, she has worked with children, parents, and teachers in a wide range of settings, including homes, preschools, college classrooms, and online. She has received awards from the National Federation of press Women for her syndicated column that appears in over 200 newspapers nationwide. She holds degrees in Child Development, Family Life, and Education from Purdue University and Central Michigan University, and she is a member of the expert panel for the National Parenting Center in Los Angeles, California.
