G. R. Grover and Sons AnthologyFrom the perspective of two generations, G. R. Grover & Son's Anthology is a collection of poems spanning more than seven decades. The first point of view is that of my Dad. Growing up during the depression, he experienced life as a submariner during the Second World War, worked on the railroad as a fireman and an engineer, married, and raised a family. This poetic medley is centered on these topics and expresses his observations of general human behavior, and reflects his quirky sense of humor. The second view point is that of a child growing up in the 60's (the flower-power generation), and my life experiences since that time. There was a wealth of material to draw upon during this era. With my love of the absurd, inspirations ranged from political topics, love lost and found, science fiction, space technology, reality television, and more. In this collaborative work, you will discover poems on the issues of a skunk hunter's misadventures, existence inside a ping pong ball, a millionaire hobo riding the rails, a photographer who can't shoot straight, a sailor's romantic encounter out on the town, a mischievous pet panther, an epic space odyssey, and a memorable high school reunion, just to name a few. There are nearly forty poems at this juncture, so there should be something for just about everyone to enjoy. |
