I think I have read through Dick Raymond's book dozens of times. Joy Of Gardening is the best reading. I have learned so much from this book I give it a 5 star rating.
I came across this book in a friends home and instantly was attached to it and asked where I could get one. They surprised me and gave it to me as a gift. I spent many hours pouring over its pages and trying the methods as he explained them. I do my gardening 800 miles north of the US/Canada border where my growing days are only 60-70 and frost stays late and comes early. Several years after I received the book we had a house fire and lost everything. There are many things that a person wants to get back from such a loss, but when spring rolled around I was ready to have another copy of that book. I found one and continue to spend much time seeking gardening advice. I have found that all the experiments I have tried have worked just as he said it would, even in the cooler shorter growing season 1000 miles north of where he did his experiments. If you ever have a chance to get your hands on this book, I would take in a snap. If you enjoy gardening it becomes much more enjoyable when you do it Mr. Raymond's way. And if you do not enjoy gardening, you probably would once you start working with Dick Raymond. Enjoy the rest of your gardening season.
