About the author (1990)

Plumptre is one of the foremost authorities on garden design. He was educated at Radley and Jesus College, Cambridge where he gained an honours degree in History. He embarked on a career as an author, editor and journalist. He moved to South Africa in 1997 as Sotheby's first resident director.
