About the author (1982)

Born in Galicia, Rokhl Korn wrote her first poems in Polish, before switching to Yiddish. She published several books in Poland before World War II, and her postwar writing is regarded as some of the finest poetry produced in Yiddish during that period. She received numerous literary prizes for her work. After the war she settled in Montreal.
