Lili revisits Tilou with Golden Soul, a story about an abandoned puppy in Clay Rouge. The unfortunate pooch is further rejected by a superstitious community that forces him to endure unbearable prejudice because of his physical characteristics. Forsaken, the dog becomes the focus of Tilou's love, devotion and her determination to provide him with a home. The task is arduous, but throughout her ordeal, Tilou maintains cheerfulness and courage as she leads Golden Soul to freedom. It is a story of how trust, loyalty and friendship can drive a young girl to realize noble potential.

Having read this wonderful book, I conclude it is a most interesting experience to read concerning the richness of this Caribbean country's culture, both positive and negative aspects, and also a heartwarming interlude into a little girl's life, conclusions and relationship with people and animals. I recommend it.

I just finished reading Golden Soul and it was a joy. It opened up my mind and taught me so many lessons through the eyes of a young girl. The story is a heart-wrenching but very exciting at the same time. I would recommend this book for anyone who has passion for life.
