Greek, an Intensive Course, Volume 1
The first edition of this extremely popular two volume Greek text has been successfully adopted in many high schools and colleges; the organization and approach used by the authors, make it an equally effective tool for those who would enjoy learning the language on their own. The set is designed for a two semester course at the introductory level. This second edition incorporates the authors' improvements and corrections gathered from users' commentary. Those who are currently using the first edition will find this update valuable, those who are seeking a Greek language text will find Greek: An Intensive Course one of the most complete and accessible books on the market.

Having taken a semester of Classical Greek, and currently in the second semester, I've been using this for the entire time. I recommend it.... if you have a good teacher, also. On its own, the book will not give you an intuitive knowledge of the Greek of Athens. As well, some of the exercises are... peculiar. Consider that, in the unit introducing participles, one of the English sentences concerns a cyclops having "consider digestive trouble" because he ate a man. Also in this unit are sentences in English about eating boiled spinach and broiled liver. If life informs writing, someone might have been having a bad day...
TL;DR: This book is good, but not on its own. Try and get a good teacher, and beware of digestive troubles.
