About the author (2004)

Jennifer Blizin Gillis writes poetry and nonfiction books for children. She first became interested in the Civil War while living near Fredericksburg, Virginia, close to many battlefields. She lives on a former dairy farm in Pittsboro, North Carolina, with her husband, a dog, and a cat.
