About the author (2004)

Boyds was founded in 1979 as a small antique business in Boyds, Md. In 1984 Boyds introduced its first major plush product, a unique, fully jointed wool teddy bear named Matthew. Boyds relocated to southern Pennsylvania in 1987 and its product line was expanded to include other plush animals and related accessories, including furniture and ornaments. Its sales network comprises independent gift and collectible retailers, premier department stores, and select catalog and electronic retailers. Boyds' very own flagship store, Boyds Bear Country, the world's most humongous teddy bear store, is located in Gettysburg, Pa. Patrick Regan is a writer from Kansas City, MO.
