Brad Meltzer has put together a collection of essays featuring some well known and some lesser known role models for his son. These stories are so moving that you'll want to give this book to fathers and sons alike. This is a fantastic father's day gift or even a gift for new dads. Read full review

Heroes for My Son, written and read by Brad Meltzer, is an audiobook that will leave you inspired and thinking about lessons that are important to
instill in your sons. This audiobook is a wonderful collection of people the author considers to be heroes, heroes that he wants his sons to learn about and strive to emulate. Meltzer shares how his life changed when he became a dad and why he wrote this book. Martin Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, Amelia Earhart, and Anne Sullivan are a few of the heroes included in this book and the stories shared about each individual are truly inspiring.
I loved the personal touch that Meltzer included as he begins with sharing why he wrote this book and also including his son in the recording of this audiobook. Track 9 is a tidbit about Roberto Clemente who is Meltzer’s son’s favorite athlete. Meltzer shares when he first showed the book to his son and his reaction. I really enjoyed this part of the book; it is probably my favorite track. Beginning each track with a word or two about the individual before saying the individual’s name is a great format and introduction. I also like the CD of pictures that is included; this is a nice touch to the audiobook and really completes it. Each of these tracks will inspire both children and adults to think about their lives, how they live their lives and the legacy they wish to leave.
