Hole in the Wall

To come straight to the point: The title of this book indicates that behind the walls of our cliches and conventions a place of freedom is waiting for those who are without fear. In this book, 78 young, creative dynamos show 137 works with which they broke down the walls of convention in their minds. And that is how it is with the imaginative spirits in this book: They love ideas and only feel totally at their best when they have reached the peak of their creativity. That is why their work is fresh and rough, unsmoothed and un-plagiarized. The works presented were selected by Judith M. Grieshaber, and they were created under her auspices in the communication design study course at the Konstanz polytechnic university. To improve understanding, the works are accompanied by short, to-the-point texts. The enclosed CD-ROM shows an additional series of designed Internet appearances and short sports. The prejudice that design education in art academies is superior to that in polytechnic universities is as dead as a doornail. It is not the structure of the institution that achieves results in class but the quality of the teacher.
