About the author (2004)

The best way to understand something in order to help others is to actually experience it, study it, test it, and live it. I have always been fascinated by love, relationships, and marriage- why some work, why some fail, the definition of a soulmate, etc. Since the early 1990s, I've studied relationships, communication, and understanding between men and women, including couples where each partner comes from a different culture.

The cross-cultural relationships I have studied include North Americans, Asians, South Asians, Europeans, Africans, and others. I put myself into their environments and actually experienced living and working within their culturally significant lifestyles. Moreover, in order to understand how people live and behave outside of their cultural environments, I also took the opportunity to pull my clients out of their comfort zones. The names of subjects in this book have been changed to protect their identity and privacy. As well, certain statements are repeated to emphasize their importance, so you do not forget them.

In researching this work, I interviewed as many men and women as possible. I even dated women from outside of my own cultural heritage. The knowledge I gained has helped me assist others who are facing the challenge of making a cross-cultural relationship work. This manual brings together what I've learned from these different cultures in regards to love, relationships, and marriage. It contains information that singles and couples alike will be able to use. Yes, you can succeed in your relationships. If you are willing to answer the questions truthfully and apply the advice in this manual wisely, you can rebuild your love life, communicate better, and find happiness. For ten years I have been helping men and women improve their relationships. I can help you too.
