About the author (2009)

Joan E. Roberts,Ph.D. owns an award winning homecare agency in Riverside,CA. Joan began her career as a speech pathologist, working with the elderly in skilled nursing facilities, convalescent centers, and hospitals. In addition, she served as an assistant professor of speech pathology and clinical supervisor at the University of Redlands. She also worked as a director of special education for two California school districts. Joan's desire to combine her experience working with the elderly and the disabled led her to open a homecare agency in her hometown.
