Emma Dubin, age 14, explains to parents what they're doing wrong (and sometimes right). Using her observations of her own mother and father, and their sometimes faulty parenting, as well as quotes and experiences from other teenagers, Emma helps parents understand what's going on in teenagers' minds, and how to parent and love them most effectively. According to Emma, if you asked her friends to describe her in three words, they would go with variants of "jaded," "passive-aggressive," "mildly amusing in a caustic, ironic, bitter sort of way," and "reasonably intelligent." (She explains that most of her friends aren't too big on doling out praise though.) Asked to describe herself in three words, Emma says she'd have to consult a friend, because" that's the sort of infuriatingly insecure, hesitant teenage girl I am."
