If this book is the same book as originally published by Fountain Press in 1972 then by publishing it under one author there are issues of breach of copyright. As head of photography at Manchester Polytechnic I initiated this book based on my original idea and worked with three other members of staff, Dr George Wakefield, Cliff Marsh and myself Jack Tait. Cliff was responsible for the typography, George wrote all the text and I designed all the diagrams. Duncan's job was simply to cross check for errors.
Fountain Press are in error in publishing a book without credit to the other author's. George is dead and I was not approached to give my assent to my work being published. This seems to be a breach of copyright as well as being dishonest and discourteous. I do not know whether Cliff was approached. Duncan is also wrong to have failed to seek the permission of the other authors in giving the impression that he was sole author.
The cover picture should not have been changed from the original one either. The original won a Time Life award in 1973 which makes the wrongdoing even worse. I would suggest that buyers only buy the original.
