About the author (2011)

The author still lives in the same six-floor-walkup apartment in Manhattan she describes within these pages. But she has a computer now and a new air conditioner that works. She is a psychotherapist in private practice and treats anxious young actors, artists, writers and musicians all desperate to succeed. Often these patients remind her of herself when she was younger. In Praise of Unsuitable Lovers is a chronicle of that earlier self and records some of the life adventures from that earlier time. The author still sees life as an adventure but she tells us her adventures are a bit milder now than they were in the past
