In the Hills of Monterey
In Spanish California, Ortiza Tarabal's father, the wealthiest landowner in Alta, sends for a bridegroom from Spain. In response, Francisco Valdez arrives in the Bay of Monterey. He is joined by Louis Mortier, a former colonel in Napoleon's Grand Army, who has come to acquire land from a former French Revolutionist. Once these two men set foot on California soil, they set off a tale of alliance, adventure, and romance. (July)
