About the author (2011)

Nancy Pickering Thomas, PhD, is professor emeritus in the School of Library and Information Management, Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. Dr. Thomas has taught graduate courses in theoretical foundations of service, children's literature and programming, managing the school library, and services for special populations. Her work has been published in Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, Advances in Library Administration and Organization, Journal of Education in Library & Information Science, School Library Media Activities Monthly, and the Big6 Newsletter.
Sherry R. Crow, PhD, is assistant professor of school library science and educational media at the University of Nebraska, Kearney, NE. Her published works include Information Literacy: A Guide for the Library Media Specialist. Crow was named Colorado Librarian of the Year in 2004 and University of Nebraska Kearney's Outstanding Scholar of the College of Education in 2010.
Lori L. Franklin, PhD, is school librarian at Olathe East High School, Olathe, KS, a large suburban high school in the Kansas City metro area that was recently chosen by the International Center for Leadership in Education as one of "20 Model High Schools." Franklin is a National Board Certified teacher with over 15 years experience in school libraries and was a district finalist for Master Teacher of the Year in 2006. She also received an Educator to Excellence award for the 2006-2007 academic year.
