After suddenly finding myself in Brazil three times over the past year, both for business and pleasure, I realized the urgency of learning Portuguese. At least in my experience, you can not get away with English like you can in Europe. With the Instant Vocabulary Builder by Tom Means, I was able to take advantage of the Language courses that I took in school , as well as, my native English (French in HS, Italian at University). I soon learned that those connecting foundations, gave me about a year's  head start in building this new language. The audio CDs continue to be a great help in relieving my speed and shyness in terms of pronuncia !
I totally recommend.
