Introduction to Thai Reading

Front Cover
Orchid Press, Aug 15, 2008 - Foreign Language Study - 205 pages
Quite a number of Thai language learners have found that, in order to really master the Thai language, one must become adept at reading Thai. Students who rely on books with phonetic transliterations of Thai will make limited progress. Because there is no universal standard for transliterating Thai into English, students lose time relearning different phonetic systems. In addition, some sounds in Thai have no direct equivalent in the Roman alphabet. Even the best transliterations cannot capture all the nuances of the Thai language.
