Jan Gleiter is the author of the award-winning "Lie Down with Dogs," She lives in Chicago, Illinois.

Thompson is the editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Black Women. She has worked the past twenty years in education and publishing. She was also cofounder of a Chicago educational development house, Sense and Nonsense, Inc.
