They hadn't very much to do but spend their lives collecting stuff afraid they might not have enough. Coffee mills and green guitars, pictures showing baseball stars, eight keys, one goat and seven lime, and one whole room of Sunday Times--they brought home anything you'd name 'till finally the sad day came when every inch of house was crammed, and worse, the kangaroos were jammed behind the door... what could they do?

This is our family's favorite children's book by far. I had it as a child and all three of our children have had it read to them countless times. I have it entirely memorized an now my youngest is close to doing so. If you have any sympathy for eccentric collectors (or pack rats) this book is THE BEST.
