Sixteen-ear-old Katrina and her twin brother Olaf are among the islanders who help rescue forty seamen from a stranded Russian ship. The only person hurt is Olaf and when the ship's captain refuses to allow the doctor to return to the ship to give blood to Olaf, the doctor defies the captain in the presence of the crew. Doomed to certain punishment on his return to Russia, the young doctor asks Katrina to help him get away to another country.
