About the author (2003)

SARAH HOLLOWAY is an independent consultant in sustainability strategy and communications. She specialises in supporting sustainability leads and managers through the tricky process of creating real, lasting change for sustainability. She has held senior sustainability roles at Unilever, Tesco and TUI Travel, working on sustainability strategy, policies, reporting, consumer and employee engagement - and, of course, leading global networks of sustainability champions. Before moving in-house, she was a director of sustainability communications agency Futerra, where she worked with clients in the energy, telecommunications and beauty industries. Sarah studied Human Sciences at the University of Oxford and holds an MProf in Leadership for Sustainable Development from Forum for the Future.

Stephen K. Rice is Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Seattle University.

Professor Valentine has held prestigious international visiting fellowships at the Universities of Sydney, Australia and Otago, New Zealand and has visited and given keynote addresses at a range of prestigious international conferences. She was co-founder and co-editor of the international journal Social and Cultural Geography, and co-edited Gender, Place and Culture. She has undertaken international research in Europe, Africa and the USA and is committed to developing the University of Sheffield's international strategy within the Faculty of Social Sciences.
