Le mythe aryen: essai sur les sources du racisme et des nationalismes

Front Cover
Calmann-Levy, 1987 - Antisemitism - 377 pages
Traces the genealogical and anthropological sources of the Aryan myth. Analyzes myths of national origins from different areas of Europe, from Spain to Russia, together with successive anthropological theories and value judgments regarding the origins and characteristics of Whites, Blacks, and Jews. Shows how the theory of the existence of a group of Indo-European "Aryan" languages was extended to the field of anthropology and adopted by Positivist scholars, and then by the anti-Jewish masses. Although abandoned by scholars at the end of the 19th century, Aryanism became the preserve of demagogues and politicians, and eventually the official doctrine of the Third Reich.
