About the author (2001)

Brand was born in Michigan and moved to California at age 12. She is a licensed x-ray technologist. She also has a teaching degree and credentials in medical office procedures and related technologies from UCLA. She taught for over 11 years at a local community college. She now is teaching as a private tutor to elementary students. She is also a three years survivor of breast cancer.
