Written by two leading Rumanian musicologists, the book deals with Lipatti's life as pianist, composer and teacher and contains a strong 'autobiographical' element in so far as there are numerous quotations from letters by and to this great musician.
The book is lavishly illustrated with music examples and photographs and includes a full list of Lipatti's compositions, a discography, bibliography and index. Also reproduced are two cadenzas which Lipatti wrote for the Mozart Piano Concerto in C (K467).
