About the author (1987)

Andrea De Carlo was born in Milan, and he currently lives in the countryside in Central Italy. One of Italy's most successful contemporary novelists, he has published thirteen novels in Italy and his books have been translated in 21 countries. His first novel earned him the reputable Premio Comisso prize for literature in 1981, and his books have since sold more than three million copies in Italy alone. He has worked as assistant director to Italian filmmakers from Federico Fellini to Michelangelo Antonioni, and he directed an acclaimed film adaptation of his first novel, "Treno di Panna.
