Front Cover
Reliance Publishing House, 1997 - Generals - 348 pages
More than that. Jicks story describes his familys intimate involvement with Mahatma Gandhi and the Rev. C.F. Andrews. His father Sudhir Rudra, the first Indian principal of St. Stephens College in Delhi, sent his Vice Principal, the Rev. Andrews, to South Africa to persuade Mr. Gandhi to come to India. Thereafter the latter used the Rudra house in Delhi as his base for nine years ; many incidents of that sojourn are here recorded for the first time. Furthermore, Jicks association with those two great Indian Army leaders, Field Marshals Auchinleck and Slim, add further interest to the biography and will be welcomed by todays officers to whom their names are but legends of history.
