Springer Science & Business Media, Oct 11, 2006 - Medical - 550 pages
Management of Prader-Willi Syndrome brings together the contributions of professionals with considerable expertise in diagnosis and management of PWS. Clinical, social, family, and community issues are explored and management strategies identified. The text presents historical, medical, and genetic information to orient the reader. The major portion deals with pragmatic guidelines, rather than research and diagnosis, and is directed to health and educational specialists in academic, clinical, and community settings. This manual is endorsed by The Prader-Willi Syndrome Association, which is recognized world-wide.

This book has been a great resource for me. In fact, before Internet was used at the doctor's offices, I took it with me and loaned it to the doctors. It is very well written and in-depth. Prader-Willi Syndrome is such a rare disease that many doctors have little knowledge of it. It is up to us parents to be aware of what to watch for and alert the doctors. There is always new research. For up-to-date info, crisis, and general support also check on the Prader-Willi Syndrome website pwsausa.org. You can purchase this book and a large variety of publications and inexpensive leaflets from the site. There are also lots of free downloads such as the medical alert pamphlet to keep at home and on file at your doctor's office, etc.
