This book came highly recommended by the mental health bookstore that I trust, so I bought it, hoping it would help my PTSD. Unfortunately, it was so frustrating to use that I now have to hide the book because just looking at it brings up irritation.
I failed the very first exercise and it never got any better. I kept wondering if there was a companion book that explained the terms of this book and why it was supposed to make sense. For example they keep using this term, " the I-system" . After trying really hard to figure out what on earth this means, I believe it means "when you get triggered & start to freak out" . We all want out of that state of mind. But the authors seem to believe that just by slapping some jargonistic phrase on it, we can magically have control of it. Maybe it helps some people who have no clue at all what is happening inside their head?
Maybe this book works for some people. My advice is to look at the first few pages very kindly provided by google preview, and do the first exercise, and make your own evaluation. The rest of the book will be pretty much the same way. Very skimpy on explanations and descriptions, a lot of exercises that may or may not make sense to you.

Stanley H. Block, MD, is adjunct professor of psychiatry at the University of Utah School of Medicine, and a board-certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He is a consultant on the medical staff at US Army and Veterans Administration Hospitals. He lectures and consults with treatment centers worldwide, and is coauthor of Mind-Body Workbook for Stress, Mind-Body Workbook for PTSD, Mind-Body Workbook for Anger, and Come to Your Senses.
