About the author (2004)

Raymond Nickford has published many stories in anthologies in the US and Mister Kreasey's Demon is his third novel to be published in the UK. Nickford brings to this genre his characteristically poignant and very powerfully rendered underlying themes, not without conflict and the macabre but certainly without the tedium of excess bodies or the shock and gore onslaught on literature. Locations in remoter villages of Cypruss Troodos mountains, in menacing corners of London or in the cosy yet infamous Laburnum Lodge* of Malvern, together with sensitive exploration of character, should add interest for both UK and overseas listeners as well for the disabled whose enjoyment can often only be a listening experience. [*Fictional] He says of his characters that - atmosphere and eeriness aside - he is driven by his interest in exploring the tension and poignancy in lives which, driven to extremity, could actually become our own.
