Dr. Sakoda has an extremely well organized book, with a number of elegant designs. The book is based on a number of different bases, and the instructions are superb. I learned origami from the first edition and was able to fold many of the models from his instructions. He recommends using foil paper, and it does make folding the models easier -- foil holds the creases, and the models actually stand up. Purchase the book, a pack of 100 15x15 cm foil paper and start folding!
