Out of the mouths of babes

After a decade away, Greer Bell is returning to Loveless County, hoping for a reconciliation with her family one that includes their acceptance of her nine-year-old daughter, Shelby. Thanks to the local land-grant program, Greer's also the new owner of a dilapidated property she's turning into a guest ranch. She's risking her financial future on it.

But she's risking far more than that on Noah Kelley, the man who wants to marry her despite the town's disapproval and all her efforts to discourage him. Shelby, however, is definitely in favour of having Noah as her dad and sometimes kids know best.

About the author (2012)

Lois Faye Dyer always knew she would be a writer someday. When her big sister read aloud from Rudyard Kipling, Albert Payson Terhune or Mary O'Hara, five-year-old Lois would plan her own stories about a mongoose named Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, a dog named Lad and horses with names such as Flicka and Thunderhead. A lifelong bookaholic, she wrote her first western novel when she was fourteen, but since she had no clue about romance, the book was only a hundred pages long.

She persevered, however, and sold her first contemporary romance in 1990. In the years between five years old and 1990, Lois lived in various places: a wheat-and-cattle ranch in northeastern Montana, an 1800s home on the shores of Lake Okoboji in Iowa, in the picturesque turn-of-the-century coastal town of Mendocino in Northern California, and the Spanish-flavoured city of San Buenaventura on the Pacific Ocean in Southern California.

After working in the legal community, she now spends her days doing what she loves most — writing novels. She lives with two demanding and loveable cats, Chloe and Evie, in a small town on the shore of beautiful Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. Catching the ferry to visit her daughter and two granddaughters in Seattle is a favorite pastime, as is taking long walks with her son and his yellow Labrador, Anna.
