Mushishi is a historical fantasy manga and anime series of 26 episodes. The series won grand prizes in TV Series and Best Art Direction at the 2006 Tokyo Anime Award competition, and a live-action movie was produced in 2006. Mushishi features creatures called Mushi that display supernatural powers. Mushi are described as beings in touch with the essence of life, far more basic and pure than the grotesque creatures we are accustomed to. Due to their ephemeral nature, most humans are incapable of perceiving Mushi and are oblivious to their existence, but there are a few who possess the ability to see and interact with Mushi. One such person is the protagonist Ginko. licensed for USA Cable
