The characters in this novel change identity every other page in order to push the boundaries of their own story, thus creating a game board whose pieces advance towards an unthinkable ending. This is a tale of two towns called Christmas and Slaughter and of the secret they keep, which is explored in this game-like novel that, above all else, is an excellent and vigorous portrait of very uncommon characters.

Well....I am all in favor of experimental formats, stream of consciousness narration, and other non-traditional formats, however, this novel failed to engage me at all. It is the first Open Letter Publication that I just did not like. Oh well! Read full review
