Oh Israel, My Heart Yearns for Thee
Finally free from the atrocities of the Holocaust, Tyszka and Cecylia are still haunted by the remains of World War II. With nothing left to live for in their home town of Oswiecim, Poland, they embark on a sojourn to Palestine, filled with danger, joy, and sadness as well as a newfound freedom. But each mile closer to Israel widens a growing separation between the two newlyweds. They soon find that their reasons for living on a kibbutz, he to belong to something greater than himself, she to understand and lay down her Jewish roots, clash. Inspired by newfound loves, both Tyszka and Sarah get caught up in the complexities of radical Zionism. The outcome of their clash will determine the direction of not only their own relationship, but the ongoing history of the Jewish and Arab nations.Oh Israel, My Heart Yearns for Theeis a historically accurate depiction of the post-holocaust Jewish migration to Israel and the sociopolitical issues that still threaten the nation today.
