About the author (1997)

Grete Waitz is widely regarded as one of history's greatest marathoners. Winner of the New York City Marathon a record nine times, she makes her home in Oslo, Norway, where she continues to run and train marathoners.

Gloria Averbuch is a competitive runner and the author of The New York Road Runners Complete Book of Running & Fitness. She lives in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
