While in New York, Gregorio Charles Lewis, descended from a hero of the Mexican Revolution and the child of an American military man and Spanish woman, is casually introduced to Angélica, a Chilean refugee escaping her country's military struggle. Gregorio soon discovers, however, that Angélica is acting as a secret agent for a Chilean resistance group—one planning an attack that will finally overthrow Pinochet.
