For twenty-two years, Nancy Swayzee was an exercise therapist in private practice. Considered an expert in functional anatomy and neuro-kinesiology, she has developed a reputation as an inspiring presenter and teacher of functional exercise and the body/brain connection over the last two decades. In 1989, she created her successful abdominal and back strengthening program (the first “core” exercises), that won her respect and acclaim. Moving to California in 1990, she developed and ran programs for Tahoe Forest Hospital. Her “Breathworks For Your Back” has been internationally recognized and the book is in its third printing with Harper-Collins. In 1993, Swayzee became interested in the connection between physical activity and brain function. She began writing articles on Exercise & the Brain and presenting her popular workshops on “ Stress & The Brain...What Inhibits Learning” to school districts across California. Her unique work with recovering stroke and brain injury patients grew to include Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis. In 2005, Ms. Swayzee began studying the latest research being done on Parkinson’s, and out of that created a unique brainbased exercise program called Breathworks For Your Brain. Her science based approach to physical exercise, improves short-term memory and function of both the aging body and the aging brain. She is currently working on her fourth book, Breathworks For Your Brain
