James Stark, known as the Peacemaker, is hired by spirited lady attorney, Prudence McKay, to protect her clients the widow Sarah Dunsmore and her daughter Donna. The women are being threatened by the illegitimate son of Sarah s late husband who died after leaving everything to Sarah and Donna in a handwritten will executed under questionable circumstances. Now Blake Dunsmore, the outlaw known as the Sooner Kid, wants his father s estate and he doesn t care if he claims it legally or otherwise. The will is probated in the whiskey town of Earlsboro before the notorious shotgun judge, Horatio Hatch, who declares he disapproves of a man disinheriting his own son. Hatch gives Stark and Prudence thirty days to track down the three men who witnessed the will, thereby verifying Clarence Dunsmore s intentions. Hatch s ultimatum sends the Peacemaker and his lady lawyer off on a frantic race against time to save the Dunsmore women s inheritance.
