Pedagogy of the Oppressed: 30th Anniversary EditionFirst published in Portuguese in 1968, Pedagogy of the Oppressed was translated and published in English in 1970. The methodology of the late Paulo Freire has helped to empower countless impoverished and illiterate people throughout the world. Freire's work has taken on especial urgency in the United States and Western Europe, where the creation of a permanent underclass among the underprivileged and minorities in cities and urban centers is increasingly accepted as the norm. With a substantive new introduction on Freire's life and the remarkable impact of this book by writer and Freire confidant and authority Donaldo Macedo, this anniversary edition of Pedagogy of the Oppressed will inspire a new generation of educators, students, and general readers for years to come. For more information, visit www.pedagogyoftheoppressed. |

i read this book my junior year of high school and i must say although the language used is very complex, this was a great book. It really helped me out with my understanding of student teacher roles and relationships && so much more which i really loved especially considering the fact that i am going to be a teacher.! i do some social justice speaking && i refer to Freire a lot.!. ..my point? if you plan on working in a position in which you will impact the world, read this book as many times as you can take it. ..i plan on reading it again my senior yr, and plenty of times during my college yrs. ..btw i dnt think rating should be an option for this book
