Perfect Dark: Initial Vector
The year is 2020: Corporations control everything. In the name of domination, these sprawling organizations have recruited their own military forces to fight clandestine battles against one another---a war fought in the boardrooms and won in the shadows, with the public none the wiser.

Rucka does his best to even out plot inconsistencies created by Perfect Dark Zero so that the story and characters effectively connect with Perfect Dark N64. I was very pleased with this book. During the course of the novel we learn, first hand, what the world has become, why hyper corps control it, how Cassadra DeVries became CEO of dataDyne and what led to Cassandra becoming cold-hearted and resentful towards the Carrington Institute. We also experience Jo as she learns to trust Carrington. I really cared for the characters and enjoyed experiencing their sides of the story. Not only that, but people who don't know what Perfect Dark is would still enjoy this sci-fi corrupt business story. Good job, Rucka!
