About the author (1995)

Ofelia Garcia is Professor of Bilingual Education at the School of Education, City College of New York. Her publications are in the areas of bilingual education, bilingualism, and the sociology of language. She was the Academic Consultant for Foundations of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism. Colin Baker is Professor of Education at the School of Education, University of Wales, Bangor. He writes and researches on bilingual education, bilingualism and language assessment. His current research includes the effectiveness of bilingual education, the national assessment of minority language attainment and European initiatives on bilingual education.
