I sit here reading this book with sheer horror at what potentially my child may be going through at school - helpless, utterly gobsmacked and overwhelmed by this account from a person with this condition. I have an urgency that I need to act to provide the right support for my child and a need to know more. I sit with my son tonight and tell him that I will help him learn how to manage the problems with school. I ask him for the first time if he feels worried about these problems and he tells me yes he is worried. I kiss him and tell him I love him and that we will work through things together so that he can feel better about school and how to manage things. Then I leave his bedroom and just want to break down in tears. This book should be given to every single teacher, head teacher, educational psycholigist and parent as a compulsory read.
