Pu Quan and His Generation: Imperial Painters of Twentieth-century China
Pu Quan (1913-1991) was born into the last generation of the ruling family of the Manchu Qing dynasty (1644-1911), a cousin of China's last emperor. He was also an accomplished artist, and the paintings in this catalogue cover his career as a privileged amateur and teacher in the Republican period (1911-49), and as an official painter in the People's Republic of China.
