About the author (2011)

Benny Beattie earned post-graduate degrees from McGill University, Université de Montréal, and Concordia University. A retired high school history and French teacher, Beattie is also the author of two other books. He has lived four years in Europe, and traveled extensively, including the Trans Siberian Railway in 1970. He currently lives with his wife in Montreal and Cedarville, Canada, where he enjoys cross-country skiing, hiking, kayaking, sudoku, playing chess and singing bass in a barbershop chorus.
