About the author (1989)

Both authors are outstanding authorities in the field. Deirdre Baker (who divides her time between Toronto and Hornby Island, B.C.) teaches English, including children's literature, at the University of Toronto. She has been the children's book reviewer for the "Toronto Star" since 1998, and is the co-author of A Guide to Canadian Children's Books. She reviews and writes regularly for "Quill & Quire" and for the influential "Horn Book Magazine,"
Michele Landsberg is a revered author and former columnist with a special interest in women's issues and in children's books, which she regularly discussed on the CBC. Her 1985 book, Michele Landsberg's Guide to Children's Books, became a classic around the world. She lives in Toronto with her husband, Stephen Lewis.
