Rekonstruktion einer Pietistenbibliothek: der Büchernachlass des Johann Friedrich Ruopp in der Bibliothek der Franckeschen Stiftungen
Verlag der Franckeschen Stiftungen Halle im Max Niemeyer Verlag, 2005 - Reference - 227 pages
The unusually exhaustive documentation available on the library bequeathed to the orphanage in Halle by Johann Friedrich Ruopp (1672-1708) forms the basis for the painstaking reconstruction of his legacy presented here. The study thus represents an important contribution to the early history of the library of the Francke Foundations. Close analysis of Ruopp's collection of books casts new light on a figure hitherto almost exclusively stamped as a pietist song-writer and little more, revealing him as a theologian caught up in the tensions between Lutheran orthodoxy and pietism.
